Miami Beach

Host to 16 million visitors annually, nothing says Miami quite like South Beach. It is imperative not only to our local environment, but to our local economy that the beach maintains its reputation for being clean, resilient to sea-level rise, and welcoming to guests from around the world.

MILE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

CLEAN UP

Dedicated to our mission, the race course and event are designed to make the smallest environmental impact possible. Through a “bare minimum” approach to course structures and event production, we are proud to host a 100% plastic-free and zero waste event.

After finishing the 1 mile run/walk, athletes will be provided with beach cleanup materials to then walk back the full mile of beach toward the post-race party, picking up litter between the water’s edge and the dune.

The beach cleanup will be led by the Surfrider Foundation Miami Chapter, a grassroots non-profit environmental organization that works to protect and preserve the world’s oceans, waves and beaches.

$5 from every registration will go to the Surfrider Foundation Miami Chapter to continue these cleanup, advocacy, and sustainability efforts well beyond race day.
